So welcome all to the year of the dog. 4707 ish years on the Chinese calendar. Did u all get ur gaos and what not? And ur red envelopes? Well the wang came from another lunar new year event that involved a lot of sitting around and eating. The typical holiday gathering. Friends from out of town has made this last week a rather busy event. Not to mention work stuff and game stuff… So hope u all out there in the interweb land has been having a great new year. If not plz feel free to contact the local Chinese embassy and demand ur money back.
So we start with a whoel load of crap that might have been from like last week, u’ll just have to bare with it if u seen it alrdy.

She Wants Revenge is a local LA band that’s been getting some indie scene fame. The Wang linked to the lyrics and songs awhile back. The seem to be the next indie thing mixing a catchy electronic 80’s beat with some balladic lyrics and monotone singing, then throw in the punk. With their sold out shows this weekend, there’s not much chance for the Wang to catch a live show this round. But since they r based in LA, the Wang is quite sure that they’ll be back.
KCRW’s Mornign becomes Eclectic does bring us this nice live in-studio show they did this moring: (Audio streem | Video stream ) The r coming back to The Henry Fonda Theater on March 9th, so get ur tickets early for that one kiddies.

Awhile back the Wang mentioned Sia about her song being used by Six Feet Under for their finale. Never having watched Six Feet Under, but good friend Mr. Pirate has said that the conclusion was a good one.
Sia is originally from Australia. In her earlier appearances on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic (ZIPed MP3 of that session), she explained that she was drunk in London when her friend asked her to go sing. Her first album seems a little british poppy. But her second solo album seems to be a little closer to Zero 7, whom she sings with. This second album is a little more mature including the famous song from Six Feet Under, Breathe Me. (Live from the above session) The session is rather entertaining with Sia mentioning how she will be going to the desert to get drunk.
Yesterday (1/10/06) she did another session with KCRW and here’s a stream of that from KCRW’s website . This time, no alcohol, but some rather interesting discussions about lips…
Still none the less, Sia will have a live performance @ The Hotel Café tonight at 8p. Nic Harcourt of Morning Becomes Eclectic said that the show is sold out. Which can happen, due to Sia’ recent Six Feet Under fame. Even Sia said in yesterday’s session that her label just dropped her right before this Six Feet Under event. And now she is uber famous because of it. Though Breath Me is a great song. After listening to these 2 KCRW sessions, u would never guess the singer of such a serious song would be some one like Sia. She seems very funny and rather entertaining. Which saddens the Wang that he cannot make the Hotel Café concert tonight. But for those of u can, please go check it out. Start early, the line at Hotel Café gets huge when big acts show up. Or u can just linger in the alley on the side and listen to it through that one fan thing, ghetto style.

So the Wang was doing his usual web surfing thing and music sampling via Audiography, when a song catches the Wang ears, Fields of Gold by Amy Nuttall.
So who’s Amy Nutall the Wang wondered? I mean the Wang has seen other hawt women but Amy Nutell is some sort of musical stage genius. Apparently she played Christine for Weber’s Phantom of the Opera. I mean that’s like a dream women. Hawt and Sings. And yes, the Wang has some sort of closet love for Webber's Phantom. Sometimes the Wang breaks out into "Think of Me" outbursts
Though we must forgive here for her past deeds as a British Soap opera actrss on some show called Emmerdale. Though she did play some sort of flirtous waitress named Chloe Atkinson, perhaps related to Mr.s Bean Atkinsons. Amy here has even done some stuff for loaded (Wang thinks Loaded is the UK cousin of Maxim)
Now she only take big-boy photos for her more reputable CD release.

An odd sense of sweet sorrow, when AC2 server shuts down for the final moment, this poster writes of the last min before the end. Terra Nova had this article awhile back about the reactions of its players. It brought an odd sense of end of existence as user avatars disappeared for the last time. The Wired article linked by TN also tells us of how players where traveling the world exploring things that they done in the past, taking sceenshots and noting their memories. The Wang wonders what is like to when we know our reality will end one day, what will we do…
The Wang has been in 2 big MMOs of late, Star Wars galaxies and Final fantasy XI. Both of which the Wang left due to crappy game development. So the Wang never really saw an end to these worlds. And The Wang admits, after 1yr+ time spent with my litle Human Doctor in Star Wars, the Wang was rather sad to leave that world. I logout at the same palced i first started, in the Moenia. The wang remembers first logging into the swampy city of Moenia and learninig how to play. Bu tthe game's devlopers took the game to a weird weird place. Goaless and meaningless with no content and just re hashing the same stuff over and over without a sense of creativity. Still though it was a personal and sad moment to watch my avatar logout for the last time.
This does bring an odd sense of a virtual ending, still those time invested, the sweat poured and heart and soul one used to create their avatars will die the same moment someone flips a server switch. Sometimes the Wang wonders when the divine IT dude up above one day will do the same… Like Earth the reality show cancelled one day due to poor ratings. Who knows. What will we all do, will we get a big server warning?
