I Left my Heart in Los Angeles...

So after the first week of Bay Area fun, the Wang has finally decided to get off his lazy butt and write something about the so call Wang Jounrnies of SF. First of all, the Wang work place is like some gazillion miles away. Which requires the riding of some liberal mass transit system. Its liberal, cause the mass transit system kicks hacky sacks. Though the Wang has find the time to catch up on old TV shows... like finally watching episodes of Season 2 of Lost.

But the first weekend the Wang did get a chance to visit his nephew for the first time. The little wad of flesh is alrdy 10 month old. Amazing, the Wang brother has spawned and thus making the Wang into an uncle. Which the Wang consistantly remind the little wad of flesh of. "it is u who made me old..." Though the kid is cute, and being half japanese and half chinese, the kid will be hawt, thus earning the womenly love, that is deserved by all Wangs.

Beyond that The Wang family took sometime to sight see, pig out on food, BBQ with old family firends, and over all just soaked in SF in its sunny glory. (it was consider warm here... all the SF ppl were all t-shirt and shorts happy.)

The Wang family eventualy returned to their nesting grounds of Hawaii, thus leaving the Wang here to start working. Beyond the fact that my current boss-type character looks exactly like the smart version of the Wang's friend "Logan" who manages to keep a low inet presence, thus no link/picture. But trust, me those who know of the Logan, this creature is like his brother... but does computer stuff. Which is completely the opposite, since "Logan" couldn't bash out a command promp on a DOS computer. But anyways, work is far, but the ppl are cool there. I even spend like 30 min on Friday, talking to a guy about Anime and Asian Martial Art films. The Wang of course recommended that Jet Li's "Fearless" is crap, though settled at i"it has some cool fights..." Speaking of movies, have we all seen the new Casion Royal Trailer? Which stress the statment that when u add an opera to any music, it makes it more dramatic. And Eva Green is still hawt.

Back to SF. The City is cool. I got lost in it like 2-3 times alrdy. Since the Wang's policy on no u-turns, The Wang has taken a trip to Bestbuy and turn it into a 3 hr sight seeing tour of the weirdest streets in SF that normal ppl wont take. Just today, The Wang wanted to stop by the Guitar Center on Van Ness near the Civic Center in SF. The Wang ended up on the coast with some foggy view to the golden gate bridge. I assume that late night coolness makes the fog come. And the entire Richmond/Sunset area becomes this weird lego bricks in fog view. Overall the city is cool, even when the Wang got lost looking for Cafe Du Nord for an Emily Haines concert, the Wang came upon the ghetto-est part of the city when the Wang was following the street address on the wrong street. Though Cafe Du Nord was cool, lived up to much the expectations of the place. It'll likely become the indie venue of choice much like Hotel Cafe (note the upcoming Hotel Cafe Tour). Also during the "process of being lost" today, The Wang also got stuck in trafic when we came near the site of this yrs' Folsom Street Fair. In which too many nakkid ppl, ppl in leather, or ppl too old to be nakkid or in leather were all walking the streets. SF seems to accept these scenes a little better. Stuff that belong in the West Hollywood Holloween events, seem to be common here. In fact the Wang's trip to Cafe Du Nord envolves seeing a Lesbian couple rather in love going all PDA on us @ the club. Or 2 guys in leather chaps walking the streets in the cold. Arent they cold in those things? Still i guess being a member of SoCal, where all these r social faux pas, the Wang will require sometime adapt to the way of the SF-ness. Oh not to mention the bridge tolls, whats up with that?

The Wang was invited to this years' SF Lovefest. Whichy, did look fun. It was suppose to be some sort of 24 hr + block party-esque event. Though the Wang had to reject in on principle. It was a festival of DJ and electronica. And based on the Wang's scanning of SF weekly (Thanks You weekly type news magazine, u give all the cool info!!), SF seems to be a city of Techno, House, and Electronica. With DJs as celebs. Not sure if the Wang will survive in a city with a love for music as such. Well, thats until the Wang discovered the coolness of the radio station Live 105's Sunday night show Soundcheck Which features the introduction of new Indie/Alt bands and local bands. Though the Wang alrdy miss listening to KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. Soundcheck is a nice distraction... well atleast only on Sundays. So overall, SF still have hope. on and other coolness, the frickin Onion actually publishes a really good news mag here, that has some of the best music/event listings EVAH!!

Beyodn the music, the traffic, the work, and the festival. SF's ppl seems to be generally weirder. I guess they r not-socals. They obvs drive differently. It seems ppl are less aggressive on the road, but they do this funny thing that when they do cut u off, they just act all non-oblivious to everything. While in SoCal, must rude drivers would jsut go, "ya what u want? YES i just cut u off, what u want to do about it?" I guess SF-ean lack the "Tude." Speaking of "Tude", just finish watching Wonderfall, great show, higly recommend it... Screw Fox and their cancelling ways. They frickin always ruin good shows. Sorry back to the SF thingy. SF seems to have one good things though, the Women. In contrast to the SoCal women, i think the women in SF are more confortable with them selves. They dont feel the needs to glam up like LA girls. Nor do they seem to wear anything much more label-oriented beyond American Eagle... though the Wang does miss the constant taunting of American Appereal stuff... cuz knee high socks and short shorts are tres hawt! SF tend to go with the Fall look from GAP a little more. Still women tend to work more large frame glasses and go with the mroe casual look, which LA girls should learn, works very well on the common non-asshole male. Speaking of which the Wang saw a red head, i mean dyed red hair girl at Bottom of the Hill which, the Wang must said, is one the hawt-est women the Wang has seen in awhile. She resembled a indie rock Willow (from Buffy tVS) thing. She smiled a lot and giggled. The Wang has learned in recent yrs, that one should seek out happy ppl for relationships. Or atleast ppl who know how to step away from drama and enjoy life once in awhile. And one can really tell that from their smiles. So the Wang went to the stalker route and gazed at Indie rock Willow for the night. thought the Wang was building up the nerves to talk, the Wang's dinner from a nearby pizza place, which was great seems to had too fresh version of some cheese or something. The Wang did have some odd responses to the Northern Cal cheese during his last visit up here also. Perhaps the milk is just fresh-er up here. (mental note, eat less cheese) Still the whole upset stomache gave the Wang less incentive to go talk to Indie rock willow. But vowed that if he sees her again, she will be mine.

Well the Wang will continue to explore and learn about SF. And even witht he minor attempts to meet gamers, the Wang hasnt hooked up with a game group yet. Though the Wang is quite sure that there are D&D and Starwar D20 games from old Friends in the bay area, the Wang still is on his Exalted fix.... and the Gaming stores here seems to be more friendly than weridos in SoCal. So thats a good start. But beyond that tomorrow is a new week, so the Wang ends with this weird shot on "Twin Peaks" which seems like the Wang is watching the City of SF blow up in some sort of ecstasy of light. Until next time, have a good night gentle readers.
